Wow, we are so proud of Laura! She was named South Florida Sun-Sentinel's 4A-3A-2A Player of the Year. There was a huge photo of her in the paper. Titi and Carlos were so happy to see her picture.

Lake Worth Street Painting Festival

Once again we went to the street painting festival in Lake Worth and we loved it. People are so talented! It rained for a short time after we arrived so some of the paintings were wet when we saw them but they were still beautiful.

After the festival we went to the beach. We did not have any towels or change of clothes for the kids but they went in the water and had lots of fun. They were nude on the ride home!

Kooky Pens

If you have never heard of Kooky pens you are a lucky person! Don and I have heard so much about them it is sickening. Lots of kids around here are collecting and trading them and Carlos and Titi have started too. They do not talk about anything else! The moment they get off the school bus they start asking me if I can take them to the store to get more and then we get home and they want to run to the computer to go to the Kooky site to watch the videos made by kids. Then it is Kooky this and Kooky that and they know all the names and they are surprised I cannot remember which is Gunther, Thurston or Mystee???

They want to get one or two for Valentine's so I went to the store this morning and they only had 4 different ones. Last Friday they had so many. The salesperson told me they had sold 800 last week. Then I met the mother of one of Carlos' classmates at the supermarket and she told me she had just gone to another store and that they were out of them.

Farm Tour

Yesterday we went to the annual tour of the farm where we have our vegetable subscription. This is the second year we attend and this time Mema came with us. We had a really nice time and Mema said she enjoyed it too.

We were able to pick some tomatoes, carrots, turnips and greens and like last year, the kids loved pulling the carrots from the ground. Titi got some nice purple and white carrots! She was wearing her cool shorts from Guatemala and she looked cool!

After the tour we had a potluck lunch. I brought a shrimp salad. Most, if not, all the dishes were vegetarian and they were really good. I love trying new dishes. We met a Japanese man and his photographer daughter, very interesting people. He designed gardens at Morikami. She is trying to start a community garden and I hope she can do it.

Everyday joys!

Carlos and Titi are growing very fast but at the same time they are still so little. Both still love stuffed animals and they love playing with them. They have all kinds. During the weekend we went to the mall to eat and they saw the Build-a-Bear store and went crazy. We were trying not to buy more stuff but they were so excited and we could not resist getting them one toy each. We know that soon they are not going to be so happy getting a stuffed animal, especially Carlos.

They have been carrying their huskies "White Dog" and "Troy" everywhere. Right now they are sleeping peacefully with them. I wish they could stay this happy and innocent forever!

Camping

We decided not to try to camp at Disney's Fort Wilderness. It was too cold and we did not want to buy lots of equipment to try to do it. I did not know if it was even possible. We did go to register and get our ID cards. They told us they could assign us a place without electricity or we could wait a day and get a spot with electricity. Since we were not going to sleep there we decided to wait. We went to a park and then went to the barbeque at night.

It was fun, they had lots of food for everybody in the group. There were Boy Scout troops from all over our area. We met some people from our pack and also people that knew Larry. They had a nice campfire and we stayed there for some time. We felt bad for the people that were going to stay the night. Lots of the tents were in a field without electricity. Some people had electricity so they had brought heaters. We left and stayed at the condo. Ours was rented so we stayed at the one on the third floor. Very nice and warm!

The next day we went to see everybody and they assigned us a spot so we set the tent just to say we had camped :-) Everybody kept telling us we were cheating! We went to Animal Kingdom. Don and Carlos took a tour with the other kids and parents and Titi and I were on our own. We came back to cook dinner for our pack. They gave us lots of chicken, ribs, mashed potatoes, green beans, baked beans, brownies, etc. It was very good. They kids loved playing in the dark woods with the other kids.

The following day we went again and stayed for a short time (to eat) and then went to Magic Kingdom by boat. When we came back the had finished eating dinner but we got some food from another pack and then had cake with ours. We decided to take the tent down so we would not have to come back early the next day.

New Years Eve

We spent New Years Eve at MGM Studios and we had fun. The kids went on many rides, we saw a couple of shows and then went to see the Osborne lights. It had rained earlier in the day so they were not working well but it was still beautiful. Don and I wanted to have a better dinner but we ended up eating pizza.

There was a band and a DJ on the main street and Titi and I danced for a while. Titi loves watching bands play. She has to be right on the front where it is very loud. It was good to dance a little. I had lost my voice overnight and I could not talk at all. It was frustrating, specially when trying to talk on the phone with Don. We made it until 12:00 and left right after the fireworks. I enjoyed being there and I think it is a good place to spend New Years Eve.

Happy New Year!!

This year went by so fast!! It was a wonderful year and we are very thankful to end it in good health.

We are in Orlando and have been going to the Disney parks. We had hoped not to go to the parks but Carlos and Titi cannot be here without going to Disney. We bought the annual pass so we will be coming back frequently. The parks are very crowded but it is not too bad. The weather has been great, not hot but not cold at all, we have not had to wear a sweater at all.

We went to Magic Kingdom and Titi and I saw the Christmas parades and when they lighted the castle, it was very pretty. Yesterday we went to Epcot and I got to see a little of the Christmas shows. We might go back tonight there. There are so many things to do here for New Year's Eve but it might rain and we don't know if Carlos and Titi will be able to stay awake until 12.

It looks like we are not going to be able to camp later in the week. It is going to get very cold the days we are supposed to camp so we might have to go to the condo and stay there at night and then go back to the campground to enjoy the activities the Scouts have planned. Don thinks we could do it but I don't think it is possible, no matter how many blankets we bring.
